SUMMER COTTAGE ON GIBSON ISLAND

What better way to spend a few moments  than to bask in the bright beauty of this project below. I have to say, this home takes the cake for best before and after - ever. For now, we'll just focus on the after loveliness. The wonderful homeowners bought the abode last spring and were excited to move in for the summer - so we moved fast, painting every floor, ceiling and wall white and bringing in fresh, comfortable touches that were casual enough for post pool lounging while remaining nice enough for entertaining guests. A mix of family heirlooms refinished and mingled with new finds really created a space that reflected the family. Our main focus was using as many existing items as possible to mix with the new to create a classic, serene space that was still fun for all.

Now let's step right in...

The rug, bench and table were all family pieces. We repainted the entry table to keep things casual and bright and the soft coral is now one of my favorite colors ever.

Ah the living area. Everything selected was done so with a bit of what I like to call durable serenity in mind. Cottons, raffia, wood, soft sisal - all in unique shapes. YES. The art throughout was collected over time and I love the colors that each painting brings in. The space is so gorgeous in person that it was hard to leave post shoot! So happy with how it all turned out.

In lieu of a runner we painted a blue stripe running up the stairs to the master, guest bedroom and nursery. This bedroom below is on the main floor and we kept with the less is more mantra- easy to maintain and nothing too precious so guests could settle in easily.

This bedroom, like the house, is light filled. With more windows than wall, I decided to place the dresser in front of a window and hang a mirror from the ceiling. It's one of my favorite tricks and such a fun surprise.
