MASCULINE CHIC ON THE HILL

When two of my favorite newest DC residents (and dear friends) called on me to turn their new house into a home I couldn't wait. Both were ready to dive into the process and were eager to combine their styles. He, a traditionalist at heart, and she, one who loves fun quirky patterns and the color green. But first, can we have a moment for their beautiful antique chest and flag that helped kick off the project?

Like many DC rowhouses, this one had one large open concept layout on the main floor. Many people find this intimidating but if you create "zones" to break up the space, filling in becomes much more manageable. In this case, we created a living, dining and game zone. The game zone being a card table in the window bay. And yes, these clients really play cards weekly - they are the best I am telling you. I've been trying to get a certain someone to play Scrabble with me for oh about 5 years....never understood the hesitation, who doesn't like Scrabble?!!?? That's another post...

I love how this space really spoke to who the homeowners are. Classic with a hint of whimsy and overall, practical.

Even the tiniest powder room had a dash of fun...
