So, first, good morning. Happy Monday!
Secondly, go buy the September issue of Elle Decor.
Flip to the story highlighting Miles Redd's gorgeous take on the Hamptons in Erika Bearman's home. I loved Redd's use of color and paint in this house so much that I took pictures of the actual issue since I cannot find it anywhere online. For real. Enjoy.
Bearman, also known as Oscar PR Girl for those of you fashion obsessed, bought the South Hampton home with her husband a few years ago. The home needed some serious love and who better to reinvigorate a space than Miles Redd himself. Redd used some smart money saving techniques without losing any style. This home is a great example of spending where it counts (the gorgeous kitchen, wallpaper, custom master bed) and saving where you can...
1. Paint! Paint it the easiest and most cost effective way to add impact. Paint the floors a bright hue for a wow factor. Paint the molding to match the walls and create continuity. Add a stripe to any ceiling for a custom look.
2. Ikea. There are so many ways to get creative with the big box store. Redd used a number of small ikea rugs to create a large rug in the master bedroom by top stiching them together. Hello brilliant.
3. Subway tile. Redd installed subway tile from the floor to the ceiling. Subway tile is such a great compliment to the upscale finishes in the kitchen and best of all - it is cheap and will never go out of style. If you are ever in a position where you are choosing tile on a budget, you can't go wrong with subway tile. It will outlast any other style -trust me on this one!
