In meeting with a fabulous client yesterday and  looking through the possibilities for her home, we discussed throwing in what I call a little "granny chic". To me, that's adding a very traditional element to a scheme with other so not traditional pieces. In this case, chintz with mid century modern. Traditionally chintz can go very granny but when you make it the only element of its kind in a space, it is suddenly fresh. The key is to mix. And these are some great examples of how to do so...

If you look at each of the spaces it's easy to see how chintz can go from granny to granny chic. All you have to do bring in distinctive modern elements whether it be art or furniture. And now I'm trying to think about how to get some chintz into our abode.....oh, the husband will be thrilled.
